The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade over the weekend. It is a historic decision that put an end to the constitutional right to a safe abortion in the US.
Although Australia has legal access to abortions across the country after South Australia became the country’s final jurisdiction to legalize it just a year ago. For many in rural and remote Australia, access to safe abortion care is still difficult to achieve.
Dr Shelly Makleff is a researcher at Monash University on global health and women and spoke to ABC Radio Canberra Mornings about what Australia needs to improve so that everyone has access to safe abortion care.
