During a recent conversation with “Desert Island Discs” on BBC Radio 4, the superstar singer shared that she felt like “a person’s shell for a couple of months” after having to disappoint her fans.
“I just had to wait for it and cry,” he said. “I guess I just regretted the shows and overcame the guilt, but it was brutal.”
Adele made the cancellation announcement with tears in January, a day before the long-awaited concerts were supposed to begin.
She now says she “definitely felt everyone’s disappointment” and also felt “devastated” and “scared to disappoint them.”
“I thought I could put it together and make it work and I couldn’t. I’m sticking to that decision,” Adele said. “I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did and I think that’s why it was such a massive, massive story.”
“I won’t just do a show because I have to do it or because people are disappointed or because we will lose a lot of money,” he added.
Adele returned to the stage over the weekend to headline London’s BST Hyde Park festival.
