After Kylie Jenner’s private jet controversy, study shows she has nothing on Taylor Swift

Kylie Jenner has been taking some heat lately from fans, after posting a Instagram photo of her and her boyfriend Travis Scott’s private jets. Criticism about what the use of their planes does to the environment is nothing new for the reality TV family: Kourtney Kardashian faced the same backlash earlier this year – but inspired a deeper look at which celebrities are most to blame for spewing carbon emissions into the atmosphere. It turns out that the beauty entrepreneur didn’t even make the top 10 of the worst offenders list, and it was none other than Taylor Swift who did the most damage with the use of her two planes.

After the backlash from the younger Kar-Jenner sister’s post, and Kylie Jenner’s next trip to Target possibly seem more relatable: the sustainability marketing company yard decided to investigate which celebrity private jets have flown the most so far this year, and thus emit the most carbon dioxide. Taylor Swift was found to be the worst offender by far. The study reports that its planes were in the air 170 times in 2022 through July 19, totaling 22,923 minutes and 8,293.54 metric tons in flight emissions.

How does Taylor Swift’s jet usage compare to other celebrities?

To put more than 8,293 metric tons of carbon dioxide into perspective, Yard estimates that the average person emits a carbon footprint of 7 tons over the course of a year. Offender number 2 a Study of the patio – Floyd Mayweather – has emitted 7,076.8 metric tons through July 19. The boxing legend averages 25 flights per month for a total of 177 flights this year, with the shortest flight lasting just 10 minutes.

Kylie Jenner’s activity may not be comparable to Taylor Swift and Floyd Mayweather, but her boyfriend Travis Scott was number 10 on Yard’s list. (I guess we now know the answer to Jenner’s question: “Should we take mine or yours?”) The rapper’s 8,384 minutes of flight accounted for 3,033.3 metric tons of emissions, with his average flight time of only 7.31 minutes.

Kylie Jenner wasn’t the worst offender in her family

Even without her boyfriend, Kylie Jenner wasn’t the worst offender of the Kar-Jenner clan. Kim Kardashian takes those honors as she logged 4,268.5 metric tons of carbon emissions on 57 flights this year for No. 7 on the list. Hulu subscribers gave the full Kim Air tour on The Kardashians, when she showed off comforts like cashmere upholstery and custom light wood.

Who else made the list of worst carbon dioxide emitters?

Other celebrities who enjoy life through frequent private jet travel include Jay-Z, A-Rod, Blake Shelton, Steven Spielberg, Mark Wahlberg and Oprah. No big surprises, though Gwen Stefani described her husband’s “disgusting” truck as full of “total tough guy stuff”, I’d be interested to see what his bougie side is like.

Will the results of this study take the pressure off certain billionaire make-up moguls and shine more light on jet-set pop stars? Shouldn’t we be planning a tour of Kylie Jenner’s jet when The Kardashians returns to Hulu on September 22? Either way, be sure to check out ours 2022 TV schedule to see what releases are coming soon.
