We should all try to avoid the “weather fatigue” of our series of days with severe storm threats. Unfortunately, the small possibilities continue today and tomorrow. Don’t be surprised if the big hail, damaging gusts of wind and flood showers reach your place in the region.
We will be observing the entire region because we have a stationary front nearby, as well as higher level energy coming east to our region this afternoon. Stronger storms can center in the Charlottesville area in DC until 8 p.m.

Until tonight: Showers and storms can last into the night. Any that develops has a slight potential to quickly shed between 1 and 3 inches of rain (along with the aforementioned wind and hail threats). Please remember: Turn around, don’t drown when you find flood water. With high, sticky dew points, usually in the 1970s, low temperatures can only be cooled between the 1970s and 1970s.

Tomorrow (Monday): A similar storm threat could affect the trip Monday afternoon and evening from 2 p.m. There is a possibility that the heaviest rains will be concentrated in northern DC, but there is no guarantee. The sky is mostly cloudy throughout the day, thanks to the emerging showers that can occur before the afternoon storms. South winds grow over time during the day and can, even outside of storms, gusts to about 25 mph.
Crazy will make low and high temperatures feel sticky. The 80s above 90s can feel closer to 100 degrees in the hottest and steamiest places during the afternoon. Temperatures drop only between the low and mid 70s amid some continuous showers and storms at night.

Heavy hail and light gusts of wind slightly possible until tonight
The Storm Prediction Center shows that areas around and west of DC have a 5% chance of hail and harmful gusts of wind (58 mph or more) through Monday morning. See the green shading on the maps below.
Fortunately, these storms should still be uncomfortable in nature. Many of us should end up seeing garden variety storms that only have the typical summer strength. That said, many parts of the region have suffered rains and can be flooded quickly if more than one storm “trains” or tracks over the same area.
Just like last night, and expected again tomorrow night, we will monitor the radar in the afternoon and evening as the chances of a storm increase. There is already a line forming along Interstate 81 and moving east. Stay tuned.
