Alex in development: Florida first to be affected by the 2022 hurricane season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center issues warnings for a potential tropical cyclone 1.

A tropical storm called soon (the next 24 hours).

This system is a storm at the beginning of the season and will only do so slowly increase in strength.

The NHC expects this system to become Tropical Storm Alex by lunchtime Friday. The expected runway is exactly what we’ve been talking about live on the air: a runway in South Florida, near Lake Okeechobee and then into the Atlantic.

This track will withstand much of the heavy rainfall and impact far of Jacksonville.

Central and South Florida can see up to 8 inches of rain in some neighborhoods and heavy rainstorms through Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Alex will be a very torn system with much of the worst weather away from the center of the storm. Therefore, when tracking the storm, do not look in the middle of the storm to see where the worst of the bad weather is.
