Almost 2,000 people without power in Saanich due to motor vehicle incident

Part of Saanich has been without power for hours after a motor vehicle incident.

BC Hydro says a power outage in the Gorge-Tillicum and Strawberry Vale areas of Saanich is affecting 1,859 customers.

Those south of Mann Avenue, west of Angeleah Place, east of Holland Avenue and north of Forshaw Road are without power.

The outrage began at 10.52pm on Saturday following an incident involving a motor vehicle and is affecting traffic control devices at intersections.

As a result, Saanich police issued a statement Sunday morning reminding drivers that intersections, where traffic signals are not working, must enforce the 4-way stop rule.

BC Hydro says crews are on the scene and power is expected to be restored before 1pm Sunday.
