Amazon Prime Video gets a visual review on various platforms

Amazon is releasing a major update to the Prime Video app across multiple platforms. The update provides a much-needed visual overhaul on Google TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV devices. In addition, the updated user interface is also available in the Prime Video for Consoles app.

The updated Prime Video user interface resembles that of Netflix and Disney +, with a large preview window at the top, followed by a new list of the top 10 and rows of movies and shows. Recommended television sorted by various categories. The interface also has a navigation bar on the left edge, which gives you quick access to the Search, Home, Store, Live TV, Free, and My Stuff sections.

Along with changes to the interface, Prime Video now also has new visual cues to indicate if content is available on your subscription or available for rent / purchase. Videos included in your Prime Video subscription have a blue check mark, while those available for rent / purchase have a gold shopping bag icon.

Speaking about the new visual cues, Helena Cerna, Prime Video’s global director of product management, told Variety: “We definitely wanted customers to understand the breadth of content available to them, with clear input and being able to know which titles cost more. ”

Amazon Prime Video’s new interface will begin rolling out to users of the aforementioned platforms this week. In addition, it will be deployed to the Android Prime Video app. The web interface and iOS app, however, will receive the update “in the coming months.” At the moment, it is unclear whether the new interface is being deployed in the Prime Video app for macOS.
