Amber Heard has granted her first interview since the verdict in her last legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Last month, a Virginia jury ruled that he had defamed Depp in a 2018 Washington Post opinion piece published under his name. In the editorial he spoke of being a victim of domestic violence. Actor “Aquaman” has been ordered to pay Depp $ 10 million in compensatory damages and $ 350,000 in punitive damages after successfully convincing the court that his career and reputation had been damaged as a result of the article.

Depp previously lost a similar case in the UK after suing the tabloid The Sun over an article calling him a “women’s hitter”. In this case, a judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence to support the allegation.
Now Heard has sat down with Savannah Guthrie for an interview on NBC’s “Today” program on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the interview, Heard tells Guthrie that he understands why the Virginia jury came to his verdict in favor of Depp. “I don’t blame them,” Heard said. “I really understand him. He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor.”
However, referring to the extensive negative social media coverage he faced, Heard said he believed his treatment had been unfair. “I don’t care what anyone thinks of me or what judgments you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don’t suppose the average person should know these things. And so I don’t take it personally, “Heard said.
“But even someone who is sure that I deserve all this hatred and vitriol, even if you think I’m lying, you still can’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think there has been a fair representation on social media. You can’t tell me you think that was fair. “
