Amber Heard has given an explosive interview following the loss of her defamation suit with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Amber Heard has revealed she does not blame the jury for being on the side of her ex-husband Johnny Depp during her explosive defamation trial.
In an interview on NBC’s Today program in the United States last night, the actress said she “understands” why jurors believed her version of events.
“I don’t blame them,” Heard said.
“He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor.”
Depp received $ 14.4 million in compensation (AUD) after the jury ruled that Heard had defamed her by referring to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” in an article for Washington. Post in 2018.
Heard did not name Depp to the piece, but sued her to imply that he was a domestic aggressor.
Heard later rebuked her, alleging that Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed her, saying her allegations of abuse were a “deception”. The jury awarded him $ 2 million.
Heard also stated in his Today interview that viral posts on social media that supported Depp during the trial were “unfair.”
“I don’t care what anyone thinks of me or what judgments you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don’t suppose the average person should know these things. And so I don’t take it personally, “he said.
“But even someone who is sure that I deserve all this hatred and vitriol, even if you think I’m lying, you still can’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think there has been a fair representation on social media.
“You can’t tell me you think this was fair.”
Since the trial, Depp has signed up for TikTok and has been busy performing with Jeff Beck.
A spokesman for Heard said in today’s interview: “Johnny Depp’s legal team covered the media for days after the verdict with numerous statements and television interviews, and Depp himself did the same in the social networks.
“Mrs Heard simply intended to respond to what they did aggressively last week; she did so by expressing her thoughts and feelings, many of which she was not allowed to do in the witness stand.”
