An Apple-1 signed by Steve Wozniak is being auctioned for an estimated $ 480,000

In short, we’ve seen Apple-1 computers in operation that have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past, but the latter model has some outstanding features: the machine not only comes with most of its original components, but is also signed. by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Only 200 Apple-1 computers were designed by Steve Wozniak and assembled and tested by Steve Jobs, his sister Patty Jobs and Daniel Kottke at the Los Altos de Jobs home. After the machines were finished in 1976, 175 of them were sold to a computer store in Mountain View, California, and this is one of 80 that still exist today.

The seller of this particular Apple-1 is the famous collector Jimmy Grewal, founder of the AAPL collection in Dubai which has almost 200 Apple computers. He says the money from the sale will be used to take his “Apple Museum” to more places.

What makes this Apple-1 more likely is that it was signed by its creator, Steve Wozniak, last year. Some Apple-1 computers carry the Woz signature, but this is believed to be the only one signed on the 6502 white ceramic processor.

In addition, this model, the 89th machine, has almost all its original working components, is fully functional and is believed to be the first Apple-1 used outside of America.

The auction will start on June 2, 2022 and run until June 12. It is expected to contribute between $ 460,000 and $ 485,000. They’re more than two recent Apple-1 sales, including this one in a Koa wooden box, but about half the record amount someone paid; one model sold for $ 950,000 in 2014.
