An elderly couple dies after a fire in west Sydney

“The deaths we’ve seen this week really underline the fire prevention and safety messages we’re sending to the public.”

In NSW there have already been three deaths in the first three days of winter, and FRNSW is urging residents to be proactive in checking their appliances and replacing the faulty ones.

This includes making sure that the smoke alarms are installed and maintained, cleaning the heaters and replacing the old ones, not overloading the electric hobs and not using outdoor heating and cooking equipment inside.
