An enraged rat viciously attacks a pigeon in the showdown in New York

The streets of “Zoo York” are getting very bumpy.

A wild video posted on social media on Monday shows a rat savagely attacking a pigeon, with the victimized bird flapping its wings helplessly as the hostile rodent dragged it along a pavement.

The rat bolted under a car with the injured bird in its mouth as the chilling clip ended, leaving shocked onlookers wondering the fate of the agitated pigeon.

“He took son under the [vehicle] to end him,” one person replied. “This is cold.”

The footage was posted Wednesday on the “What’s New York” Instagram page, which has more than 1.3 million followers.

“It’s only a matter of time [before] we’re next,” read one response, which garnered more than 1,000 likes.

Jessie Salinas, an Idaho-based artist who filmed the footage, told The Post she wasn’t worried the rat would change course and attack her.jessie.salinas/Instagram

Another observer noted that the matchup marked the “classic New York matchup,” a battle between two iconic creatures of the city.

“Oooooh NYC pet whores fighting for the spotlight,” read another poignant response.

But the pint-sized boxers should have known better since they’re on the “same team,” one Instagram user pointed out.

As some have insisted, the viral footage showing New York’s kill-or-be-killed mentality rivals the content of nature shows.

“Who needs the Discovery Channel when you’re walking the streets of New York!” said one observer.

“Facts,” someone replied.

“Damn, I think I’m traumatized,” insisted another viewer.

The clip of the “New York cataclysm” was posted to Instagram on Monday by a user named Jessie Salinas, who told The Post she recorded the stomach-turning footage under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in the Clinton section Brooklyn Hill.

Salinas, an artist originally from Idaho, said he wasn’t worried about the rat changing course and attacking him.

“No, not all of them,” The Post wrote. “I was shocked and surprised that my phone was off and recording before I knew it. I guess it’s in our DNA these days.”

Salinas, 25, of Brooklyn, noticed some people asking why he didn’t save the pigeon, a suggestion he finds “hilarious,” he said.

“I wouldn’t want to mess with that rat,” The Post wrote Thursday.

Rats killing pigeons in New York is nothing new, of course, as a previous epic street fight between the species was captured in Brooklyn in 2020.
