An investigation is underway after the body was recovered from Lake Killarney

Fredericton police say a man’s body was recovered from Lake Killarney on Sunday.

Police and firefighters responded to a report of someone who “was swimming and didn’t get out of the water” around 8 p.m. Saturday. A diving team searched the lake on Sunday.

Killarney Lake Park’s trail and beach system was closed Saturday during the initial response and Sunday morning. The park reopened around 2:45 p.m. once the scene was cleared.

“We are unable to provide further details at this time as the matter is still under investigation,” Fredericton police spokeswoman Sonya Gilks ​​said in an email.
