While in the process of moving to the capital full-time, Albanese made an appearance in Canberra on Saturday as part of the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

Aspen Island, an artificial island in Burley Griffin Lake and home to the National Carillon, was renamed Albanese in a morning ceremony as the island of Queen Elizabeth II.

As part of the celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign, Albanese also made a dedication to the new Queen Elizabeth water gardens planned on the shores of the nearby lake.
