Antonio Conte has agreed to stay as Tottenham’s coach after a meeting in Turin on Friday with Fabio Paratici, the managing director of football.
Conte has a contract until the end of next season, with the option to extend, but he wanted to make sure his ambitions and those of the club were aligned before committing to continue.
The talks addressed issues such as transfer targets, potential sales, and new offers for existing team members. The Spurs want to give an extension to Harry Kane, who has two years left on his contract. The striker will be delighted with the Conte update and may now be open to considering this offer.
Tottenham were determined to keep Conte and their chances of doing so increased as they qualified for the Champions League and the majority shareholder, Enic, pledged to invest up to £ 150 million.
This will significantly increase the money available for signings, with Internazionale striker Ivan Perisic, who played for Conte’s orders, among the goals.
Conte is also interested in central midfielder Gleison Bremer, but the Brazilian seems willing to join Inter, so the Spurs could switch to Alessandro Bastoni of Inter. The 23-year-old Italian international is ideal for the profile of President Daniel Levy.
Djed Spence, England’s under-21 winger on loan at Nottingham Forest in Middlesbrough, is another target. Spence is gearing up for Sunday’s championship playoff final against Huddersfield.
Tottenham are forced to buy Cristian Romero for 55 million euros (£ 46.6 million) this summer in line with last August’s loan at Atalanta and have a decision to make on Dejan Kulusevski. He joined Juventus in January on an 18-month loan and the Spurs have the option to buy him for 30 million euros this summer. A mandatory purchase clause of 35 million euros will come into play at the end of next season if certain conditions are met.

Paratici will try to raise more funds by downloading players like Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon. Ndombele, Lo Celso and Gil were transferred in January, Conte’s first transfer window with the club.
Fraser Forster is set to become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer, as the goalkeeper has agreed to join Hugo Lloris as a substitute when his Southampton contract expires next month.
