Appleās WWDC is not an event that traditionally includes multiple hardware announcements, but nonetheless, a new MacBook Air took to the stage during the presentation. The new 2022 model is designed around the more powerful M2 processor, and its design is closer to that of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, with a more square appearance than the traditional wedge shape. It has MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack. It is 11 mm thick and weighs 2.7 pounds. It will be available in silver, space gray and new colors “starlight” and “midnight” blue.
This MacBook Air will be available in July starting at $ 1,199. M1-based Air will remain available for $ 999.
The MacBook Air 2022 includes a larger 13.6-inch screen with smaller bezels surrounding it. Apple says it has 500 nights maximum brightness. It has a quiet, fanless design, which is impressive considering the performance gains Apple claims to take from the M2. Apple says it’s 40 percent faster than the previous model, but the performance increase is likely to vary by application.
In terms of some small but important specs, this MacBook Air has a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam as well as new Dolby Atmos compatible microphones and speakers. Apple offers a new power adapter that includes two USB-C ports, which allow it to charge 80% quickly in just 20 minutes.
Not to be outdone by the news, Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro will also receive the upgrade to the M2. So, for all the lovers of the Touch Bar, you can have the best performance with, well, an interesting way to control your row of functions. This model will be available for $ 1,299.
