Not only did Apple introduce a new MacBook Air at WWDC, but it also introduced a 13-inch MacBook Pro review. Unsurprisingly, the new “input” professional laptop uses an M2 chip that promises improved performance and efficiency, including a maximum of 20 hours of battery life (during video playback) and ProRes video processing accelerated. The new model is not a major redesign like its Air counterpart, and retains the Touch Bar.
You can also expect “studio quality” microphones, up to 24 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of storage. As with its M1 predecessor, then, this is not an unrestricted workstation. You should buy a higher-end MacBook Pro if you require a lot of memory or drive capacity.
The MacBook Pro M2 will start at $ 1,299 ($ 1,199 for education) when it arrives in July. The position of this system in training has not changed, therefore. This is the portable Mac for users who want active cooling for heavy workloads but don’t need the extra power of premium machines like the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro models. That said, the 13-inch machine is harder to sell when the new Air offers similar performance, a larger screen and a MagSafe power connection for less money.
