A new version of macOS means that a new Mac collection can no longer run Apple’s latest desktop operating system. Perhaps most notable is that the new macOS Ventura update will not be available for the 2015 MacBook Pro.
This laptop quickly became a fan favorite model because it was one of the last to come with a traditional scissor switch keyboard before Apple left it in favor of its mocking butterfly keyboard. Fortunately, Apple has since revived this traditional keyboard design, which means there are some really good replacements with Apple Silicon available for anyone who still has the 2015 machine.

Another notable change compared to the compatibility list for macOS Monterey is the end of major operating system updates for Apple’s Mac Pro 2013 (also known as the “Trash”). But given the age of the machine, not to mention its mocking design, I do not imagine that many will mourn its passage. With its Ventura update, Apple no longer offers updates for any pre-2017 Macs, meaning it offers up to five years of major macOS updates for these machines.
macOS Ventura is currently only available as a beta update for developers, but should be released as a public beta next month. Like previous major macOS updates, expect a full release this fall.
