Green is level 1, which means people should take normal safety precautions, such as using common sense and monitoring suspicious behaviors.
Yellow is the second level, which means having a high degree of caution and urging people to pay close attention to their personal safety and the current health situation.
Orange, level three, warns that travel should be reconsidered and non-essential commutes avoided.
Red, level four, advises people not to travel to this country.
“International terrorists have carried out attacks in the UK,” the SmartTraveller website said.
The level of the UK government’s terrorist threat is ‘substantial’, meaning it assesses that an attack is likely.
“Islamic extremism, far-right ideology and the status of Northern Ireland contribute to the threat.”
