The company that manages the $ 2.5 trillion Australian stock market has made history with a big announcement.
A historic change is approaching for the $ 2.5 trillion company that manages the Australian stock market.
ASX Ltd announced on Thursday that it would promote Helen Lofthouse to the main job: the company’s first female CEO and CEO.
Mrs. Lofthouse will replace Dominic Stevens in late July.
Her appointment comes after a four-month international search and joins the handful of women who sit at the helm of Australia’s largest companies.
The Australian Board of Retirement Investors said in March that only 13 of the top 200 companies had women executives.
Ms. Lofthouse has been a member of ASX since 2015 and runs the company’s largest revenue-generating business, the markets segment.
“I am honored and honored to be chosen as CEO of ASX given the critical role it plays in Australia’s financial markets,” Ms Lofthouse said in a statement.
“I look forward to helping shape ASX ‘s future as we continue our transformation and leverage our technology platform to deliver more value for customers, staff, shareholders and the investment public.
“I am also indebted to Dominic Stevens to ensure that ASX is in a strong financial, operational and technological position and with considerable growth potential when it leaves.”
One of Ms. Lofthouse’s main tasks will be to oversee the $ 250 million CHESS clearing and replacement project, which has been delayed several times over the past two years.
In early May, ASX said the new distributed logging technology would no longer “go live” in April 2023.
