Australian Ajla Tomljanovic’s sensational Wimbledon tournament came to a disappointing end at the hands of Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals, the second year in a row that the Australian was sacked at that stage.
But the first question he faced at the post-match press conference had nothing to do with his impressive campaign, nor with his heartbreaking 6-4 2-6 3-6 defeat to Rybakina after threatening a boil in the first set.
Instead, he was immediately asked about former partner Nick Kyrgios and allegations of treatment for an ex-girlfriend.

A journalist began the press conference by asking Tomljanovic, “You were in a relationship with Nick Kyrgios for a while. You are aware of the allegations that have been made, investigated by the police in Australia. What was your experience? to be in a relationship with him? “
The Australian tried to dismiss this line of questioning when she replied: “I’m really not aware of what is being said exactly about what their past relationship is and the allegations. I don’t know what it is.”
The journalist, however, was not discouraged and said: “He has been summoned for domestic violence against a former couple in a Canberra court.”
Tomljanovic replied, “It’s been a long time since our relationship ended. Obviously, I’ve always kept my relationship very private. I’d like to keep it that way.
“I am definitely against domestic violence. I hope it is resolved. But yeah, I mean I haven’t had that experience with him. “
Tomljanovic and Kyrgios left about two years before they separated in 2017.
