Get help with access

Institutional access

Access to restricted content at Oxford Academic is often provided through subscriptions and institutional purchases. If you are a member of an institution with an active account, you may be able to access the content in the following ways:

IP based access

Typically, access is provided over an institutional network to a number of IP addresses. This authentication occurs automatically and it is not possible to log out of an authenticated IP account.

Log in through your institution

Choose this option to gain remote access when outside your institution.

  1. Click Log in through your institution.
  2. Select your institution from the list provided, which will take you to your institution’s website to sign in.
  3. When you are on the institution’s site, use the credentials provided by your institution. Do not use a personal Oxford Academic account.
  4. After logging in successfully, you will return to Oxford Academic.

If your institution is not listed or you are unable to log in to your institution’s website, contact your librarian or administrator.
