AFL journalist Damian Barrett has unleashed himself north of Melbourne following another sad performance against Geelong on Saturday night.
The respected informant spoke of the level that the Kangaroos have dropped after 11 consecutive defeats by 47 points.
“They’re just a horribly broken, historically inept football club,” he told the Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.
“Let’s go to his 49.5 percent percentage … (49.47 percent) was Fitzroy’s last year of life in the AFL in 1996. GWS he played with a lot of teenagers so effective in the first season of their lives in the AFL in 2012 (46.17%). was what they had that year.
“It can’t get any worse, and yet it keeps getting worse.”
In response to whether senior coach David Noble can keep his place as senior coach, Barrett was clear in his assessment.
“There’s (no way) now that he’s keeping his job. He’s been two years old, he’s had five wins in his name over those two years and with Geoff Walsh’s announcement, the board has as much to answer for as anyone.” , explained.
“Two members who were key to the board in Ben Buckley and Glenn Archer decided to leave the club when it got a little difficult … they have left their mess to other people and are now hiring consultants to solve their problems.
“There is no leader at any level of the club who can get them out of this problem.
“The problems are so deep at every level from the board down and, as we know, they don’t even have a proper recruiting team to identify the next wave of talent.”
North Melbourne are the last with just one win in their 15 games this season and face the Magpies who have won six games in a row.
The name of legendary coach Alastair Clarkson will be continuously linked to his former club, but it remains to be seen if he will want to be part of a complete rebuild.
“Right now they’re witch hats.”
The damning statistic that shows how historically the Roos have been poor this season, as @barrettdamian says there is now no chance of David Noble surviving in North Melbourne # 9AFLSFS | Watch @ Channel9 pic.twitter.com/jbYe0WLXZQ
