Bay Ferries cancels Fundy Rose cruises for 3 days

Bay Ferries Limited has canceled all Fundy Rose crossings between Saint John, NB, and Digby, NS, at least until Tuesday due to mechanical issues.

The company originally canceled four Saturday night crossings.

On Saturday afternoon, the company announced that repairs including welding would be needed before the ship could return to service.

The rest of the canceled departures are from Sant Joan at 8 and 14:15 on Sundays and Mondays, as well as from Digby at 11 and 5:30 on the same days.

In addition to today’s crossings, all Fundy Rose crossings on July 17th & July 18th have been canceled while we work to fix the problem.

We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and are working all day and all weekend to fix the problem as soon as possible.

Mark Wilson, senior vice president of Bay Ferries, said the problems only affect Fundy Rose. He said the main problem is a loading ramp.

One of the hydraulically operated cylinders of the ramp needs repairs and the bow landing door ramp is inoperable, the afternoon announcement was later confirmed.

Passengers with reservations on canceled crossings will be reimbursed in an attempt to re-book, Wilson said.

“We realize it’s high season and apologize for any inconvenience to our customers,” Wilson said. “But we’re working as fast as we can to fix it and re-navigate as soon as we can.”
