Sad news for Gogglebox Australia fans today, with reports that one of the show’s long-standing stars has passed away.
Entertainment journalist Peter Ford broke the news on air on 3AW this morning that Di Kershaw, one half of couple Mick and Di, who have been on the show since season one, had died after a short illness
“She’s been sadly ill for a couple of months, so my condolences to Mick and the whole family. She was so talented – the producers struck gold when they found her,” Ford said.
Di and her husband Mick, Indigenous art dealers living in Sydney and married for more than 50 years, had appeared in every season of Gogglebox Australia.
Broadcast since 2015 as a co-production between Foxtel and Ten, the show gives viewers a glimpse into everyday Australian households as they watch and discuss the biggest and divisive TV moments of the week. A lover of white wine and never afraid to speak her mind, Di was undoubtedly one of the most beloved personalities on the show.
His sharp tongue even extended to his former Gogglebox castmate Angie Kent, who he saw appear on several other reality shows after leaving the show.
“She was on Gogglebox, then she went to the jungle, then she became The Bachelorette, and now she’s a dancing star… Forgive me. She’s not a dancer, that’s for sure,” joked Di .
Kershaw was also celebrated off-screen, receiving the Order of Australia in 2020 for his long-standing service to the visual arts.
She and her husband Mick disappeared briefly Box of glasses during the show’s 11th season in 2020, choosing to self-isolate from Covid at home in Sydney.
“This is a very, very crazy world we live in and I actually suggested we have a new TV show called Survivor: At Home”, Di, he said, announcing his departure to the show’s fans. The pair were back on board the following season.

“Di, a former model, convinced Mick to give up his high-flying career as an advertising executive to follow his passion for art. They opened their own art gallery and dealership and, 30 years later, business is still going strong,” it read.
