Bethesda continues to hire fans who create Fallout: London

Fallout: London looks great! Honestly, it could happen as a real, official expansion if you show it to someone who had no idea it was a fan-created mod. And it seems that the company behind Fallout, Bethesda, agrees that London looks wonderful because it continues to hire the developers of the ambitious mod.

The word for the latest hiring came yesterday, on the official Twitter account of Fallout: London, when the people behind the project revealed that their senior technical advisor, Ryan Johnson, was leaving the Fallout 4 seamstress team to begin to work for Bethesda. By itself, this news is impressive and fresh. That Bethesda has come looking for talent is proof of how promising the mod is.

The modification team said everyone was “excited to see the worlds you can build” for Bethesda as she begins her new job at the company.

So that’s one thing. But the wildest thing about it all is that it’s not the first time this has happened. By this time last year, Stephanie Zachariadis, who was then the lead writer for Fallout: London, was leaving the development team after being hired by Bethesda Game Studios as a mission designer.

And in the update announcing this latest outing, the team announced that it was also offered a role to another of its members in Bethesda. This time it was the mod’s own project manager, Dean Carter, who seems to have been offered a place to work on Fallout 76 in the Bethesda office in the UK. However, Carter declined the job after a “very hard soul search” and will stay to watch Fallout: London until its completion.

The London team suggested that some modders use large, well-known projects for “purely CV stuffing,” while others do so for the community, team, and fans. “It’s not easy to reject your dream of life” working on a fan mod for free, they wrote, and suggested that Carter’s choice to stay was a sign of his “disinterest” and “dedication.” to the mod and his team.

As for Fallout: London, a large-scale PC mod that will add a new London-themed world to Fallout 4 with new missions and weapons, the project’s developers said Johnson’s release won’t cause any delay in development. Apparently, his departure has been known for a long time and helped ensure that the team could move forward before leaving.
