Billion Dollar Company ‘Activision Blizzard’ steals indie artist’s design for COD Vanguard

Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard allegedly plagiarized COD Vanguard Samoye Skin in the Floof Fury tracer pack. The allegation scandal came to light on Twitter after the creator of the original design showed the striking similarities between his original art and the cosmetics promoted by COD Vanguard. And this spread like wildfire among the gaming community, strongly condemning what Activision Blizzard did.

The author of the original art posted an image and a tweet comparing his original work to the Floof Fury Tracer pack available in Call of Duty, and the reactions to it are great. And if you think that’s outrageous, sadly, it’s not the first time it’s happened.

The original artist claims that Activision plagiarized his work down to the smallest detail.

Activision Blizzard allegedly plagiarized the Samoyed skin from COD’s Vanguard

Concept artist Sailin5 posted his original artwork on Artstation, and it’s part of a collection of animals wearing military gear. In his collection, he has a wolf, a fox, a kitten, a tiger and two human figures, a cityscape image and concept art for weapons. Also, his track record in creating content in this style goes back a long way if you check out his profile. So imagine his outrage when he sees Activision Blizzard taking his work and, without any credit, putting it in Call Of Duty as a cosmetic skin.

If you look at the image above, the similarities are striking in terms of spices, bandana, boots, coat and backpack. When Sailin5 posted his tweet, he wrote: “He needs to explain this.” Still, he doesn’t know who to talk to about the alleged copyright infringement. When he takes this legal course, it will be a David vs. Goliath battle, as Activision would hire a large army of lawyers to settle the matter out of court and settle him in a plea deal, as these issues usually end.

Sailin5 expects compensation

For Sailin5, expect to be compensated for your work; says he has contacted Activision for an explanation and wants to reach out to the media so his case can be heard. He hopes the situation is resolved soon because he plays Call of Duty and wishes this kind of thing would stop happening.

The skin is part of this cosmetic package.

And it’s not the first time they’ve been accused of plagiarizing a skin

In 2021, Activision saw another scandal of alleged plagiarism from a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare character, a character named “Cade Janus” was at the center of a dispute for the COD developer that used key aspects of the his image for the character Mara which included pose, weapons, gender, hair color, equipment and makeup. Essentially, Activision ripped off the character and the matter went to court. Can Activision’s 3D artists get a little original? Or at least pay artists for their work instead of strong arming them into accepting pittance for their work? We just have to wait and see how this issue goes. This is all the information we have on this topic at the moment. Thank you for your attention. Happy gaming, and see you soon!
