The director of the Black Panther sequel has paid tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman as the film’s trailer was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con International.
Key Points:
- Coogler said Boseman’s impact on the film industry would be long-lasting
- The trailer for the Black Panther sequel was released at Comic Con International
- Other Marvel movies were also announced, including new Avengers movies
Ryan Coogler spoke about Boseman, who died unexpectedly of colon cancer in 2020 before filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The first Black Panther film, where Boseman played the titular character, was the late star’s breakout role.
“The impact he had on this industry will be felt forever,” Coogler said at Marvel Studio’s Comic-Con presentation.
After the massive success of Black Panther in 2018, plans for a sequel were quickly put into motion.

But these were modified after Boseman’s unexpected death.
The studio said it would not recast Boseman’s role as T’Challa, but very little has come out about the film in the years since.
Production wrapped in March after several delays, one of which was due to an injury suffered by Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s brainy sister Shuri.
Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett will also return, but not Daniel Kaluuya, whose Nope schedule conflicted.
Tenoch Huerta will debut as the main antagonist of the film, Namor the diver.
Hailing from Atlantis, Namor is one of Marvel’s oldest superheroes, having debuted in the first issue of Marvel Comics in 1939.
