LILY, 32, SAYS:
I arrived first, my appointment was a couple of minutes late, so as I was talking to the staff and being walked to our table, I noticed a guy with a backpack sitting in the corner and I thought, God my, please, not him. Luckily it wasn’t and my date arrived soon after.

My first impressions of Connor III were that you picked a good one. He was tall and very easy to talk to. It didn’t feel forced at all.
We started with some standard questions about work, how many siblings do you have, etc. and then once we both had a drink and relaxed a bit, the conversation flowed. There were actually no awkward silences or awkward moments. You can say that talking to people is very easy for him. He mentioned that he had recently been to a really crazy wedding. He told many good stories and made me laugh a lot.
I would describe Connor III as funny, charismatic and likable.
For dinner we shared some dishes. I’ve been to Lotus before, so I knew that even if my date wasn’t great, the food and cocktails would be. To be honest, I had set my expectations low for this date, but funnily enough, we stayed until 10pm. We shared a bottle of red and took our time. I didn’t feel rushed or anything by him, it was just easy conversation. The weather was very bad so we decided to stay rather than look anywhere else.
He showed me his application on Blind Date and it was fun – I can see why you chose him.
We exchanged numbers and maybe shared a kiss or two. He also asked for my work email.
When I got home, I texted him and sent him a screenshot of all my friends checking in on me as the date went by asking if I needed them to call with a fake emergency.
I’m 90 percent sure there will be a second date.
Verdict: 9.5/10
CONNOR III, 27, SAYS:
I don’t regret convincing myself to message PerthNow at 2:43am on Saturday for this date.
In that message, I claimed to be a “fun-loving skateboarder who lets my hair fly free in the wind, an over-avid recycler, and a diligent and watchful road sensei.” None of this was true. Not even close. For the record, I blame The Court’s two for $22 vodka vs.
As such, I was worried that I would come across someone who was looking for the kind of guy who could be a contestant on Beauty and the Geek.

He couldn’t have been more wrong. Lily is a total babe. In fact, she might be a BATG contestant herself.
I was extremely nervous because I had recently lost all three camouflage fedoras, which are essential to my confidence. I had a strawberry Up & Go and watched a rerun of Deal or No Deal before I left. The contestant (Toby) took a $34,000 deal which instilled some confidence in me.
We had a reservation at the Lotus, a restaurant inside the Beaufort. By the time our massaman curry arrived, we were a bottle of deep red and slightly bullying each other.
Lily was born in New Zealand, spent time in Brisbane, and enjoys a vanilla four shot coffee. He has an identical twin, recently signed a 12 month lease extension and once ordered ham and cheese toast from HJ. I know all this because I was taking notes with an Artline text all night.
She has a great laugh and is super genuine, which I really enjoyed. She was dressed to impress, which she did. The photographer took about eight times as many pictures of him as he did of me.
As it was a Tuesday, Connections was having their weekly mud wrestling competition so we ventured down to Northbridge and took part. I was full of confidence and attempted a naked back choke. I slipped and introduced myself within the first 12 seconds. Okay, that part didn’t actually happen.
However, we exchanged numbers and then I secretly followed her home on my e-bike. I checked her water meter because I was curious to know how much H20 she was using in her garden before deciding whether to ask her out on another date.
