Blues head coach Craig Berube addresses Nazem Kadri’s threats: “It’s not a good thing”

The head coach of the St. Louis Blues Craig Berube on Wednesday denounced social media threats to Colorado Avalanche striker Nazem Kadri, days after the coach said he “had no comment” when first asked on Monday.

“I’m not on social media. I was aware of a threat made to Nazem, not racist things,” Berube told the media on Wednesday. “In no way is it acceptable for the St. Louis Blues or anyone else that he has to go through that. Since I’m a Native American myself, I’ve heard it all, I’ve been around that.

“It’s not a good thing. So I just wanted to get this out of nowhere.”

Kadri was the subject of racist comments and threats on social media after a collision with blues goalkeeper Jordan Binnington during the third game of the second round Blues-Avalanche. After the match, Binnington threw a bottle of water at Kadri while the Avs striker was being interviewed by TNT.

In the fourth game, Kadri scored a hat-trick on the way to Avalanche’s 6-3 victory over the Blues. Colorado can eliminate St. Louis on Wednesday night in Game 5 with a win.
