North Bay police arrested three people yesterday after an assault on McIntyre St. which involved “blunt objects” and pepper spray.
It happened at 5:20 a.m. Police responded to reports that the three suspects broke into a house on McIntyre East Street and “assaulted a victim while threatening his life.”
Police say the three used various blunt objects and a substance believed to be pepper spray to attack the victim. The attackers then fled the area and were found and arrested by police at a nearby Ferguson Street home.
According to the police, as a result of the assault, the victim suffered serious and harmless injuries.
The three defendants and the victim know each other.
Sebastien Giroux, 19, of North Bay, is charged with:
- Break in, break into the house – commit a felony
- Threats: causing death or personal injury
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Katie Daisy Marguerite Benoit, a 29-year-old woman from North Bay, is charged with:
- Break in, break into the house – commit a felony
- Threats: causing death or personal injury
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
A young man is accused of:
- Threats: causing death or personal injury
- Breaking in, breaking into a dwelling house: committing a felony
- Two offenses of non-compliance with a sentence
- Failure to comply with a release order
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act, the North Bay Police Service will not disclose the name or any identifying information of the young person charged with this crime.
The three defendants were arrested pending bail at the North Bay courthouse.
