Canadian inflation rose 7.7 percent in May year-on-year, according to Statistics Canada. It was the fastest acceleration in the cost of living in almost four decades. The average economist estimate followed by Bloomberg was a 7.3 percent year-over-year increase in the consumer price index last month. This is a story in development, more to come.
