Wild weather is hitting the NSW coast. A massive wave took Bondi’s premises by surprise and forced them to flee.
The entire NSW coastline is suffering from heavy surfing and wild weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a statewide hazardous surf warning, from Byron Bay in the north to Eden in the south.
Swimmers, fishermen and sailors have been asked to be careful in the water.
On Sunday night, waves of up to five meters were recorded on the coast, with similar waves recorded on Monday.
Images obtained by Nine Network show huge waves dragging a trail on Bondi Beach on Sunday night, causing people to flee for their safety.
The huge swell, caused by strong winds generated by a low-pressure system over the Tasman Sea, has already caused some erosion and damage, and coastal businesses shot down the hatches on Monday morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology has told people to consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near areas exposed to surfing.
“Dangerous surfing conditions along the NSW coast, Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island have been generated by a low pressure system south of the Tasman Sea,” the warning said.
“Conditions in these areas could be dangerous, so it’s important that people stay away from surfing.”
“Rock fishermen should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and look for a safe place that is protected from surfing,” the Office said.
“Sailors planning to cross shallow waters and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
“Sailors who are already in the water must wear appropriate safety equipment and wear a life jacket.”
An abnormally high tide also caused minor flood warnings for Hastings River at Settlement Point on the north coast of NSW, near Port Macquarie.
