Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have abandoned plans to hold a delayed wedding party at Checkers.
The couple got married last year in a low-key ceremony at Westminster Cathedral followed by a reception in the Downing Street Garden. However, coronavirus restrictions meant that they could only invite a maximum of 30 guests. They had a two-day honeymoon.
Johnson planned to celebrate it in style on July 30 at Checkers, from 1921 the official residence of the Prime Minister in Buckinghamshire. The 16th-century mansion is set in 1,500 acres of land and has an indoor pool.
However, the event has been moved to another location after questions were raised about Johnson’s use of Checkers, The sun reported.
Earlier, James Cleverly, the secretary of education, said so
