Boris Johnson will start fighting the law to repeal the Northern Ireland Protocol

Johnson, who called the result “very good” and “decisive” on Monday evening, addressed his cabinet at the regular meeting on Tuesday morning and thanked them for their help.

“Good morning Cabinet … thank you, by the way, everyone for the good work done yesterday,” he said, while reporters were invited to capture his initial statements.

He urged cabinet ministers to examine public spending demands and find savings that benefit the public.

Johnson said: “It is not enough to spend money, it is necessary to spend it prudently.

“And we, as Conservatives and Conservative ministers, need to make sure that at every stage we drive reform and drive value.”
