Corus Entertainment suspended the program on Tuesday over complaints that came to light following a recent video posted on Twitter by Valentyne last weekend.

The video opened the floodgates of negative comments about the well-known personality of John Derringer radio of many colleagues.

Valentyne never names him in the video.

His video, entitled “It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing,” addresses the harassment and gender inequality that has plagued the glamorous media world over the years.

He had a particularly tough trip on the radio.

Some of the insults that came to her include comments about her appearance, her age, and even her pregnancies.

He sat down and grabbed her for years because he needed her job and, as he says in the video, the women who spoke were often fired.

Valentyne is best known for her 23 years at Breakfast Television with CITY-TV.

She later co-hosted Derringer In The Morning in Q107 from 2017 to 2019.

According to Valentyne, complaining about coworkers vaping in the Q-107 radio studio helped her get a job she didn’t want as a co-presenter for Global News Toronto.

Since years ago she had been told by Global that her boss did not consider her a serious enough journalist, Valentyne says she was pretty sure they would move her so they could fire her.

And that is exactly what happened.

While Valentyne doesn’t name names, the public scene that is Twitter wasted no time in identifying its tormentor in Q107 as John Derringer.

Meanwhile, many other women (and men) in the media have shown their support for Valentyne on social media.

Toronto Mike (torontomike.com) wrote about the allegations against Derringer Sunday, quoting former Q107 radio personality Jacqui Delaney, who said: “Working with John Derringer was one of the things that allowed me to quit radio for complete “and called it the worst experience he had on the radio.

Delaney posted on his Facebook page, mentioning his, “abuse at the hands of Q107 Toronto morning man John Derringer,” and made it clear that management had known about the problem with Derringer for years.

“So if John Derringer is on the air tomorrow morning at Q107 Toronto, they’ll have some important explanations to make because this weekend’s revelations won’t have surprised anyone.” she posted.

“Your Corus movement!”

Former Derringer co-worker Andrea Rooz posted on Twitter: “I told everyone I could about my experiences with JD and everyone was outraged that someone might come out with their luck trying another human the way they treated me. I can’t even imagine talking to a dog like he talked to me … “

Asked for a comment, a Q107 spokesman sent this statement:

“We are aware that Ms Valentyne has expressed concern about her time in the broadcasting industry, including her time with us.

“Any concerns that include employee experience are of the utmost importance to us.

“A few years ago, Ms. Valentyne expressed some concerns and we took immediate action to review her at that time. There is also a process underway with the Canadian Human Rights Commission. We have had mediation talks with her, we have been sensitive to procedures and we are awaiting the determination of the next steps.

“We take these issues seriously and look forward to a solution.”

On Tuesday, the Q107 statement was amended to indicate that new information had been received about workplace concerns at the station.

“It simply came to our notice then retained Rachel Turnpenney of Turnpenney Milne LLP to conduct an external investigation. With immediate effect, the program, Derringer in the Morning, will be paused pending the conclusion of the investigation. “

Derringer has been the morning boy in Q107 for 21 years and in November did his 5,000th show.
