Low-wage workers will be able to use their housing benefits to buy housing according to plans announced by Boris Johnson tomorrow.
In a speech in Lancashire, the prime minister is expected to announce that he wants to change the rules so that people can use the money to obtain mortgages and make monthly payments.
He argues that the £ 30bn for the benefit of the housing currently being rented would be better spent on helping people become first-time buyers.
One minister described the policy as “bricks for the bricks” and said it would allow young people to pass the accessibility checks needed to get a mortgage.
