Brimbank residents are being encouraged to receive a free flu shot this month to protect themselves and their families from the flu this winter.
The state government is offering free flu shots for all people aged six months and older until June 30.
Influenza cases in Victoria rose more than 30 percent last week from 10,000 to 15,000, according to Brimbank’s board.
Community members can visit one of the council’s emerging vaccination centers that offer free flu and COVID-19 vaccines (no reservation required) or contact your local GP or community pharmacy to book your free flu shot.
Anyone with symptoms of a cold and flu should be tested for COVID-19 and stay at home until their symptoms have resolved, regardless of whether it is COVID-19 or the flu. People who test positive for COVID-19 should be isolated for seven days from the date of their outcome.
Mayor Jasmine Nguyen said: “I encourage everyone in our Brimbank community to help protect themselves and their families by getting the free flu shot this month.
“It’s very easy to get your flu shot for free – just visit one of our emerging vaccination centers, you don’t need to make an appointment. Or you can contact your local GP or community pharmacy to book. you there.
“You can help everyone stay safe this winter by getting vaccinated against both the flu and COVID-19. And remember to get tested if you have any symptoms and stay home if you don’t feel well.”
