The pop superstar married Sam Asghari as scheduled on Thursday evening, a source close to Spears confirmed to CNN.
The couple, who got engaged in September 2021, first met in 2016 when Asghari starred with Spears in the video for their single “Slumber Party”.
This is the singer’s third marriage.
Prior to Thursday’s ceremony, Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander was arrested and charged with assault and assault after unauthorized access to the wedding venue, according to police.
According to police, Ventura County Sheriff’s officers were called to the residence in response to an admission report.
The suspect in the entry was later identified as Alexander, according to sgt. Cyrus Zadeh with the county sheriff’s office.
Alexander faced security when he entered the singer’s property and there was an altercation between him and two security guards, Zadeh told CNN. The two security guards were mistreated in the physical fight.
Zadeh said Alexander was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor felony, two counts of assault and one felony count of vandalism.
Spears married Alexander, a childhood friend, for about 55 hours in 2004 before the marriage was annulled. She was also married to dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children, before filing for divorce in 2006.
