Britney Spears’ ex-husband has been charged with harassment after appearing unannounced at his home in Los Angeles and attempting to block his marriage to Sam Asghari.
Jason Alexander, 40, pleaded not guilty to the charges, as well as assault, assault and vandalism.
He attended the hearing virtually by video conference.
Police arrested him last week after he allegedly interrupted preparations for the wedding. He was taken to a local prison.
Alexander, a childhood friend of Spears, briefly married the singer in 2004 and was her first husband.
However, the union was canceled three days later.
Spears, 40, and his fitness partner Asghari, 28, were married in an intimate ceremony in California last Thursday, with the singer arriving in a horse-drawn carriage covered in flowers.
But as the final touches were being made, Alexander posted an Instagram Live story from outside Spears’ property in which he said he was there to “crash” the wedding.
His video showed him walking around Spears’ house looking for her, before entering a tent where flowers were being arranged.
He then claimed that the singer had invited her, saying, “She is my first wife, my only wife.”
“He was able to find his way to the property and face security,” a police spokesman said.
“There was an altercation with the security guards and there was the battery … and during the altercation an element was broken, so that’s where vandalism comes into play. And being privately owned it goes into game the income “.

A judge set his bail at $ 100,000 (£ 82,000) and issued a restraining order forcing him to remain at least 100 meters from the pop star for three years.
A few days after the ceremony, Spears said she was “still in shock” and added “fairy tales are real” in a series of Instagram posts to celebrate her big day.
She also nominated several guests, including “girl crush” Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez, Madonna and Paris Hilton.
Her parents and sister Jamie-Lynn were not to be present after the controversial battle for the conservation of the singer, which ended after almost 14 years in November.
The images shared by Spears on Instagram showed her smiling with her fitness instructor husband Asghari and partying with the guests.
Spears and Asghari met on the set of the video for their 2016 song Slumber Party and got engaged in September 2021, as their preservation seemed to be over.
The controversial legal agreement governing his life and finances was overturned by the Los Angeles High Court.
Spears had previously married Kevin Federline, with whom she shares teenage children Sean and Jayden.
