Brynne Gordon has alleged she was choked and beaten during her marriage to controversial figure Geoffrey Edelsten amid an explosive row over her cheating.
The US reality star, 39, is currently suing Edelsten’s estate, alleging the businessman failed to honor financial promises made before they split in 2013, leaving her homeless with only $79.28 in his bank account.
In court documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Gordon alleged how the late businessman, who was more than 40 years her senior, flew off in March 2012 when she confronted him about messages he had sent to various women from various dating sites.
He went on to allege that he became violent and chased her around his penthouse in Melbourne in a fit of rage.
Gordon claims in court documents that her ex-husband punched her in the chest during the altercation, but as she managed to “kick him out”, Edelsten grabbed her hair tie, wrapped it around her neck and he drowned her
“I couldn’t breathe and started coughing and gasping for air,” Gordon wrote in the affidavit, the Daily Mail reports.
The documents further state that the police were called about the alleged assault, but the report was not made formal to avoid media attention.
Gordon says the couple sought counseling to address Edelsten’s “physical and verbal abuse” and infidelity after the incident, but separated the following year, leaving her in financial difficulties.
“I was then [at the time of separation], and now I am in a bad financial situation and have received no rights as Geoffrey’s spouse while he was alive, or under his will. He has not done the proper testing for me,” Gordon said in his affidavit.
The duo met in 2008, with Gordon claiming the wealthy businessman emailed her two weeks later offering her a $50 million “deal” to marry him the following year.
“Please read carefully and reply if you want it before midnight tonight or this proposal expires,” Edelsten wrote on Oct. 31, telling Gordon he was “thrilled” about their time together in las vegas
The email, which has been provided to the court as part of Gordon’s case, laid out exactly how much Gordon would receive while they were together, with promises that Edelsten would reach $1 million at the end of each year.
“We will get married after a year of engagement. We will sign a prenuptial agreement, but you will receive an inheritance of at least $10 million,” he allegedly wrote.
He also claims she said she would get “everything else, plus some charitable donations” if they were still married when he died.
“That’s going to be over $50 million more.”
Edelsten concluded that all the terms of his proposal were subject to one condition: “No infidelity.”
The former Sydney Swans owner was found dead at his Melbourne home aged 78 in June 2021.
