Calgary police accuse 16-year-old of trying to hire someone to commit murder

Calgary police have charged a 16-year-old after a person reported that the young man had tried to hire them to kill someone.

The complainant informed police on May 13 that a young man had asked them to kill another young man in exchange for a payment, police said in a statement on Wednesday.

After a six-week investigation, police arrested the 16-year-old on Tuesday.

The young person may not be appointed under the provisions of the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.

“This is a very serious and disturbing incident,” the sergeant said. Colin Chisholm with the General Research Unit.

“We are grateful that the police have been notified and can investigate before anything tragic happens. As a service, our priority is to ensure the public safety of all Calgarines.”

Charges against the young man include a lawyer for murder, breach of a court order and possession of marijuana.
