“It simply came to our notice then [the team] off the ice, and we have a very close-knit group, “said Edmonton Canadian coach Howie Draper.
“It has taken a little longer than we expected, but we are starting to unite as a team on the ice. I think we will improve every game and we hope that tomorrow (Monday) will be our best match in the tournament.” that’s what we were throwing away. “
Chantler was delighted that his goal pushed his team to the gold final.
“We had good defensive zone coverage and then (Karel Prefontaine) got me (the record) off the boards and I took the opportunity to drive for his defense, make a shot and get in,” Chantler said.
“I’m very proud of this team. We wouldn’t have been able to (get to the gold medal game) if we hadn’t all worked together. The energy is pretty high in the locker room.”
After the match, Jocelyn Amos, Sarah MacEachern and Sara Swiderski were chosen as the top three players in the Team Canada tournament.
Canada will play for gold on Monday at La Bahn Arena against the winner of Sunday’s final match between Sweden and the United States.
