Capcom has officially announced Dragon’s Dogma 2.

During a 10th anniversary broadcast on Thursday, the publisher confirmed that a sequel is currently being developed.

“I’m sorry to make you wait,” said director Hideaki Itsuno, who also directed the original game, during a live broadcast. “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently in development!

No details of the game were revealed during the broadcast, other than the logo embedded above. In a follow-up statement, Capcom said Dragon’s Dogma 2 will “start the cycle again” and confirmed that the sequel is being developed with its RE engine.

In addition to Itsuno, who also directed Power Stone, and tickets to the Devil May Cry series, Dragon’s Dogma art director Daigo Ikeno and Capcom level designer Kenichi Suzuki also appeared during the sequel’s announcement. , suggesting that they are working on the project.

The original action RPG was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ten years ago, in May 2012.

The series has not been inactive since then: an expanded version of the game titled Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was released the following year before being brought to PC in 2016, PS4 and Xbox One in 2017 and Nintendo Switch in 2019.

In September 2020, Netflix also released an original seven-episode animated series Dragon’s Dogma.

Capcom had recently suggested during a question-and-answer session on investor relations that it could revive some of its latent game series.
