The remake of Resident Evil 4 was unveiled during the Capcom Showcase, giving us a deeper insight into Capcom’s long-awaited project shortly after it was announced during PlayStation State of Play.
The recent trailer was re-shown, along with some limited gameplay footage. Director Yasuhiro Anpo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also appeared to share some more details. Anpo and Hirabayashi reaffirmed that the game is a “re-imagination” of the 2005 original and that they want to preserve the identity of the original game, but update it with modern flowers. They want to make sure it retains the “feeling of fear and loneliness” of the original game, even though it includes exciting battles.

Playing now: Complete presentation and game of Resident Evil 4 | Capcom Showcase 2022
The game retains the third-person perspective, as expected, and Anpo and Hirabayashi said they will feel familiar to anyone who has played the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 or 3. In the limited gameplay shown, we see Leon (who seems closer to how he appeared in the remake of Resident Evil 2 than the original Resident Evil 4) walking through dense woods and helping himself beneath several vineyards. The footage shown showed no shooting.
The Ganados have been completely redesigned for the remake.
Resident Evil 4 is the third full-length remake the series has seen since 2019, with Resident Evil 2 and 3 already receiving treatment. So far, there has been no news on a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, often called Resident Evil 3 “real”, its title represents more of its original release as a Dreamcast game than any kind of state the spin-off.
Resident Evil 4 will be released on March 24, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC (via Steam).
