Captain America 4 has a director.
Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah, perhaps best known for directing the 2018 thriller The Cloverfield Paradox, will direct the fourth installment of the Captain America movie franchise for Marvel Studios.
Anthony Mackie stars in the feature film, repeating his long-time Marvel character Sam Wilson, but not Wilson’s alter ego and Captain America’s companion Falcon. That’s thanks to the events of Marvel’s 2021 Disney + series, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Wilson, after much hesitation, finally accept Captain America’s shield and mantle.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Malcolm Spellman, the creator and lead writer of Winter Soldier, is writing the script with Dalan Musson, a writer on the show.
It is unclear whether Chris Evans would reprise his role as Steve Rogers, also known as the first Captain America (although if the question of who is entitled to wear a shield continues to arise, all bets are off. having stacked casts on solo movie outings). is a major ingredient of Marvel right now.)
No start date has been revealed.
Onah was born in Markurdi, Nigeria and lived in places around the world thanks to a diplomatic father before settling in the US. His shorts toured the festival, while his dissertation film from New York University film school attracted Spike Lee as executive producer.
JJ Abrams used it to direct a feature film set in the producer’s Cloverfield world and, although that studio film failed, it garnered strong warnings for its bounce back to its roots, the indie drama Luce of 2019. The movie Neon starred Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Octavia Spencer and debuted at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. She earned three nominations for the Indie Spirit Awards, including Best Director.
Onah is represented by WME.
