CCTV appeal after two men stabbed outside Yates’ Wine Lodge

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to talk to after two men were stabbed in central Liverpool.

Two men were seriously injured after being stabbed outside Yates’ Wine Lodge near Queen Square Bus Station last night (Friday). The incident happened around 7:35 p.m.

The two men were taken to hospital. Today, police described his condition as “serious but stable.”

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to talk to about the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: “Detectives investigating a stabbing in Liverpool yesterday, Friday 17 June, broadcast CCTV footage of a man they believe could have information to help with their investigations.

“At around 7.35pm we received a report that two men had been stabbed after an altercation outside Yates’ Wine Lodge near the bus station.

“Emergency services attended and the two men were taken to hospital for stab wounds. They remain in hospital, both in serious but stable condition.

“An investigation has been opened and, following extensive CCTV investigations, police have released a photo of a man we believe may have information to help with our investigation.”

Last night, a witness told ECHO that he saw two men lying on the ground and a group of 12 to 15 people crowded around him. He said both were taken to hospital in separate ambulances.

Yates staff were also said to be among the people to help the two men who were lying on the street.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Our officers have been working to find the person responsible for a horrific incident last night that left two men hospitalized.

“If you recognize the man in the photo, please contact us, as we believe he may have information that could be vital to our ongoing inquiries.

“We believe this is a targeted attack and we would like to reassure anyone who plans to head to Liverpool center tonight to enjoy a Saturday night that is not a wider threat to the community. .

“Liverpool is one of the safest cities in the UK – it has been awarded the status of Purple Flag for over a decade and you are much more likely to enjoy a safe and enjoyable time in our city center than witnessing or experiencing terrible incidents like this.

“If you have any information about the incident in Queen’s Square last night, please come forward and help remove the dangerous weapons and those that use them from our streets.
