A video has appeared on social media showing parents desperately begging law enforcement to save their children from a gunman attack on an elementary school in Uvalde.
The shooting took place Tuesday at Robb Elementary School when the 18-year-old gunman wandered inside for nearly an hour and opened fire, killing 19 children and two teachers.
According to the Texas Department of Homeland Security, the shooter crashed into a truck near the back of the school at 11:28 a.m. before shooting two people out of a funeral home with an AR-style rifle. next. The shooter entered the school through a seemingly open door almost 20 minutes later.
Police did not arrive at the scene until 12 minutes after the crash, but did not enter the school for another five minutes. Border Patrol tactical officers entered the school an hour later, at 12:45 p.m.

In the video, parents are seen walking out of school and asking officers to come in and rescue the children.
“You know there are kids, don’t you?” a father is heard in the video. “They are young children. They don’t know how to defend themselves.”
Juan Carranza, 24, told the Associated Press that he saw the scene from outside his home, in front of the school. He said officers did not enter despite requests from parents.

Javier Cazares, whose fourth-grader daughter Jacklyn Cazares died in the attack, said she ran to school when she learned of the shooting and arrived while police were still concentrated outside the school. buildings.

The Robb Elementary School shooting is the deadliest school shooting in the country since the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012.
