A 39-year-old man has been arrested for making threats during a road rage incident in Brampton while holding a firearm.
The incident took place around 6 a.m. Tuesday in the Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive area. According to investigators, two people were involved in a road rage incident and one uttered threats while carrying a BB pistol.
A suspect was arrested shortly afterwards for threats and possession of an unauthorized firearm. An officer found a BB pistol in a holster inside the vehicle.
Police say Brampton resident Brendan Deonarine has been charged with death threats. He is scheduled to appear in court in August.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, investigators warned citizens that while it is legal to have BB guns, shotguns or airsoft, care must be taken to ensure that members of the public and the police do not confuse them with real firearms. .
Police say many of these common air pistols look like real weapons.
