It remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea can agree a fee with City in time for Ake to have a chance to face Club America, with the two clubs still very far apart in their ratings. Chelsea are also waiting to find out whether or not Raphinha will join them, having agreed a £ 55million fee for the striker with Leeds United more than a week ago.
Chelsea’s move by Ake has been driven by head coach Thomas Tuchel, who was interested in signing the player when he was at the helm of Borussia Dortmund.
Tuchel is desperate for new Chelsea owners to fix their defensive crisis with the German who is believed to want three new signings in charge this summer after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in free transfers, and there are still doubts about the future of César Azpilicueta.
In addition to Ake, Chelsea are still in talks over defenders Matthijs de Ligt, Presnel Kimpembe, Jules Kounde and Kalidou Koulibaly.
